'Moraine' is a recent cultivar (USA, 1980) that is similar to Liquidambar styraciflua but remains smaller and narrower. The slender crown only grows up to 6 meters wide. This makes this species suitable for smaller gardens or as a street tree. The green glossy leaves turn yellow to violet-red in autumn. Older branches develop corky wings. Like all Liquidambar, it tolerates wet soil.
