Beautifully closed and pyramidal growing. Fairly small leaves with pointed spines. Dark green leaves with red tint on the young shoot. Beautiful selection that responds well to strong pruning. It is a female form, which bears fruit if the plant is pollinated by a male holly such as Ilex meservaea 'Blue Prince'.

Holly grows in full sun, partial shade and shade, but requires sufficiently moist humus-rich soil. They do not like a chalky soil. Very wet soils are not suitable for holly.
Holly is very easy to cut and can be used as a solitary, in groups and as a hedge. Even the Romans used holly to plant impenetrable hedges.
