Rare species cultivated as a tree or large multi-stem. The green leaf is grey hairy on the underside, and is heart-shaped to ovate, 7-14 cm in size. The creamy white bracts make a Davidia in bloom a beautiful sight. You do need some patience, because a Davidia must be about 10 years old before it starts to bloom. After flowering, fruits of ± 3 cm in size appear. The stem of Davidia peels off.
